Downloading movies and music from the Internet is so rampant that no one really thinks it is an offence. Mainly teenagers and youth are so adept at these things.
Not many of them care to ponder over the impact such piracy has on the very industry that gives them so much contentment and happiness. Try telling them that Internet piracy is bad, and mostly you”ll get a reply on the lines of “who cares!” It’s like killing the goose that lays golden eggs. Free downloads shouldn’t be banned altogether. But there should be some control on what you can download and how much you can download.
France is one country that is leading the fight against Internet piracy. Yesterday the government there once again introduced a bill in the legislature that will create an agency to track and punish people who illegally download music and movies from the Internet. Repeated offenders will have their Internet connection snapped for as long as one year. Opponents say it’s an infringement on civil liberties. I don’t think that’s a fair objection. Civil liberties can’t override intellectual property rights.
French parliament is expected to vote on this revolutionary bill next Tuesday.
Hey..U know it’s absolutely important that an awareness is made extensively about the offence and the law attached to it.
That usually works.
GUd one. Ill be back. 🙂
