My Gmail was open. Around 12.45 am Indian Standard Time (+5.30 hours GMT), that’s about 15 minutes back, when I switched to the Gmail window, I found there was a strange blue border to my Gmail boxes. For a moment I was zapped. Then, I noticed an announcement on the top saying a variety of colour themes were available. Without losing time, I clicked on the link. And wow, there were so many out there, I had a tough time selecting one.
Gmail has been a favourite among many people. The only ones I found who still don’t have a Gmail ID or don’t use it as their default ID are Yahoo! Mail subscribers. Most of the Yahoo guys have been loyal to it, unlike Hotmail. This is my personal observation among my friends here. Why Yahoo! ID people haven’t moved to Gmail ID is something that needs to researched. It surely can’t be a coincidence.
What has attracted me to Gmail is its simplicity more than anything else. Google has done well to constantly innovate and reinvent itself. No wonder it has managed to remain ahead in the tough competition.
P, If i knew it would take Gmail colors to bring you back to this blog-world, I would have pleaded with the Gpeople to do that much much earlier. Where WERE you? This is simply not fair to us, is it? Batana toh chahiye na.
And, about why the yahoo ppl have not converted to gmail, I think yahoo ppl were the first ones to convert to gmail. My Yahoo accounts are totally un-used now. I think the MSN people were more rigid towards their approach to Gmail. In my circle, all those who had hotmails refused to touch gmail, even till date.
i guess one of the reasons yahoo people stuck with their mail system was its integration with other yahoo services such as groups, shopping and news which are still much better than google. but i agree nothing to beat google mail & maps
i was wondering where you were too!!
Me too – wondering where you were, I mean.
I too was elated to see the various themes. But after finding them too distracting, I reverted to the good old face of gmail 🙂
